Saving Money - vehicle virus
Here are some saving money and time, tips to slash your fuel and tax bills.
1. You can buy your tax online, which will save you time from going to the post office, all you need is your tax reminder and M.O.T certificate. And don’t forget the price of road tax will change next year in April 2009.
2. It is also best to buy your road tax for a year rather then six months, this alone can save you money, but if your selling your vehicle then it is up to you, just to save you money buy six months, then make sure you sell it within six months
3. Submit a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) If your car will not be used or parked on a public road for more then six months.
4. Buy an electric car.
5. Save money if your vehicle emits less than 100g/km of CO2 (band A vehicles).
6. Get your vehicle converted to lpg (liquid petroleum gas) downside is bit expensive getting fitted also can take lot off boot space but you will save a lot of money after, may be this will be suitable for big sized engines.
7. Buy a moped and save money on petrol and tax, tax is 15 pounds for under 150cc motorcycles. You will need CBT training.
8. If you purchase a car that is registered before 1 January 1973 you won’t need to pay a penny of tax although it will not have all the safety and luxuries of a modern car nowadays.
9. If you drive a company car then you could save money on petrol and tax.
10. Remove any roof racks or any unused heavy objects from your boot, a heavy car uses more petrol.
11. Turn off the air conditioning this also saves fuel.
12. Changing your gears at 2000rpm this puts less strain on your engine and uses less fuel.
13. On motorways and duel carriageways stick to speed limits this will also save you money on petrol and save lives.
14. If you can afford to purchase a brand new vehicle from a dealer showroom, you won’t need to buy cars M.O.T for the next three years.
